Job seekers with in-demand technical skills may want to give the Air Force Civilian Service a look. The Air Force hopes to fill about 1,400 cyber and 2,200 acquisition positions Air Force-wide by the end of 2017.

The Air Force employs approximately 27,000 acquisition and 9,500 cyber civilian employees, which are located at more than 80 Air Force installations around the world, with a majority in the U.S.

The acquisition and cyber career fields make up a significant segment of the technical workforce with most positions considered mission-critical or hard-to-fill.

“Our efforts have intensified on these two career fields to increase the pool of talented candidates,” said Mike Brosnan, workforce planning and talent acquisitions chief at AFPC. “We continue to look at innovative ways to fill these hard-to-fill civilian positions”

The Air Force is using hiring events as one way to recruit top candidates, such as the Nov. 16 event at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California, where they are looking to fill more than 350 acquisition vacancies. Officials will also be looking to hire various financial management positions.

The Air Force authorizes incentives for recruitment, relocation, retention and student loan repayment for the acquisition career field. In addition, hiring managers may consider using similar recruitment incentives for cyber careers, subject to local funding availability.

Brosnan said more hiring events will take place in the coming months across the country.
