Air Force officials announced the selection of 90 officers as primary or alternate participants for advanced studies at the nation’s advanced war fighting schools.

The School of Advanced Air and Space Studies at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, selected 36 officers as primaries and 22 alternates; the school of Advanced Military Studies selected 10 primary and 12 alternates to attend at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; the Marine Corps’ School of Advanced Warfighting at Quantico, Virginia, selected two officers as primaries and one alternate. In addition, the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School selected seven officers to complete MAWS at Newport, R.I.

The programs provide graduate-level professional military education for strategists.

“Success in the application of airpower requires a highly specialized and competent workforce developed through deliberate training, education and leadership experiences,” said Capt. Amanda Essary, Air Force Personnel Center developmental education branch. “Ultimately, this opportunity will produce tomorrow’s senior military leaders who are experts on the role of military force in the art of statecraft, with advanced strategic thinking capabilities,” she said.

The board considered eligible officers who had completed, or were completing, their in-residence intermediate developmental education program. Senior raters or school commandants will notify officers of their selection, and the selection list is also available on myPers. To view the list, select “Active Duty Officer” from the dropdown menu and search “ASG.”
