The 2022 Air Force Key Spouse of the Year and newly added Space Force Key Spouse of the Year Awards recognize an Air Force and Space Force-level Key Spouses who exemplifies the critical role Key Spouses play across the Air and Space Forces to support mission readiness, enhance command Key Spouses visibility and accomplishments, and motivate Key Spouses to strive for meaningful connections within military communities. Key Spouse Award winners exemplify the critical role Key Spouses play in the wing/garrison/delta/unit/organization’s mission success; enhance command Key Spouses visibility and accomplishments; encourage units to recognize Key Spouses' outstanding accomplishments and contributions to overall mission accomplishment; and motivate Key Spouses to strive for meaningful connections within communities. These are two separate awards for each respective service.
MAJCOMs and FIELDCOMs must validate Key Spouse achievements covering the time frame used for nomination of the award. MAJCOMs and FIELDCOMs must define the scope and impact of the Key Spouse’s involvement in the community which, tangibly or intangibly, contributed to community or group welfare, morale, or status. Include volunteer awards, certificates of appreciation, training, etc., obtained as recognition for personal services rendered or contributions made having a direct impact on Quality of Life. The award is not designed to recognize Key Spouses for a single act. The Air and Space Forces-level Key Spouse of Year Awards will each recognize a single winner in each service who has gone above and beyond as the role model for all Key Spouses within the respective service.
