The Air Force selected 786 officers and 592 civilians for basic, intermediate and senior developmental education during the 2015 Developmental Education Designation Board held this month at the Air Force Personnel Center.

"Developmental education is vital to the Air Force because it supports the continuum of education necessary to develop strategic leaders" said Kris Hunter, Deputy Chief, Developmental Education. "These opportunities help cultivate Air Force leaders and are designed to ensure the future force is trained, equipped and ready to meet current and future Air Force requirements."

This year, the Developmental Education Designation Board reviewed more than 3,500 applications.

"Selection for DE opportunities is a very competitive and deliberate process," said Hunter. "Whether you are an officer or civilian, being selected for intermediate developmental education or senior developmental education is a significant accomplishment. It shows that you have proven yourself as a leader in the United States Air Force and show potential for greater contributions."

Airmen selected for IDE and SDE will attend advanced training and senior leadership development programs including Air War College, the Executive Leadership Development Program and more.

"Each DE program provides officers and civilians with opportunities to learn new things that will enhance their current levels of expertise and increase their ability to think critically," Hunter explained. "DE graduates will be well-suited to developing innovative solutions to the complex challenges the Air Force faces."
