CIVILIAN CAREER MANAGEMENT

The Department of the Air Force (DAF) is invested in developing Civilian Airmen and Guardians using the “Civilians We Need” Career Model. This dual-track talent management process is designed to develop enterprise leaders and increase functional expertise. DAF civilians use the attributes on the enterprise and functional roadmaps to determine education, training, and leadership opportunities that align with their professional goals. There’s something for everyone!

FUNCTIONAL TRAINING

Develop skills required by a specific career field, functional community, or occupational series through centrally-funded training. Coordinate with your Base Education Office to identify and request these courses.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

Secure funding for your degree! Career & Career Conditional employees can contact their Career Field Team for approval of associate, bachelor’s, graduate, or postgraduate degree plans.

CIVILIAN DEVELOPMENT

Discover academic, experiential, and leadership programs designed to equip current and future DAF leaders! Eligibility requirements vary by program, and vectoring aligns right person to right training in right timing.

CAREER BROADENING

Broaden knowledge, skills, and abilities through 30-36 month assignments for GS-12 through GS-14 (and equivalent) employees. Upon completion, members outplace throughout the DAF into exciting new jobs that showcase and build upon their enhanced skillset!

CIVILIAN STRATEGIC LEADER PROGRAM

Cultivate sustained high performance and challenging opportunities for growth! Open to GS-13 through GS-15 (and equivalent) members, CSLP offers experiential assignments to develop executive leadership competencies outside one’s primary functional area.

KEY CAREER PROGRAM

Apply for 36-60 month opportunities designed to build operational and strategic competencies in high-potential candidates. Individuals looking to make a lasting impact may contact their Career Field Team for more info.

CIVILIAN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL

Foster continued growth through leadership development, pursue an Associate Degree, or refine coaching skills. CLDS offers mandatory and voluntary programs to help civilians excel in current roles and prepare for future leadership responsibilities.
