Military Consumer Protection Day set for July 16 Published July 14, 2014 WASHINGTON -- On July 16, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and 35 other federal, state government, and nonprofit organizations - including the Department of Defense, the Federal Trade Commission, Military Saves and the Better Business Bureau - will join together to mark Military Consumer Protection Day. Military Consumer Protection Day is a collaborative effort to provide the military community with tips on protecting themselves against scams, and offer information to make better financial decisions in the consumer marketplace. Through various channels, MCPD will highlight free national and local consumer protection resources for military members. Officials state these resources can also help service members, military families, retirees and veterans guard themselves against consumer fraud and make better-informed decisions when managing and spending their money. You can find more information on MCPD at www.military.ncpw.gov. Holly Petraeus, assistant director for Servicemember Affairs with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, will publish a blog post July 15 highlighting the importance of MCPD.
