Twenty members of the Air Expeditionary Force and Personnel Operations directorate at the Air Force Personnel Center here volunteered to help Habitat for Humanity build a house March 29.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing organization that partners with families in need and helps them build affordable houses for themselves and their families at no interest and no profit. The organization is in its 35th year of serving families in need in San Antonio.

On that day, the AFPC volunteers helped install siding and the plywood roof on the San Antonio home.

"Our booster club's goal is to give back to the community and provide an opportunity for our organization to do community service as a group once a quarter," said Capt. Heather Simone, chief of AEF force support scheduling with AEF and Personnel Operations. "The rewards of serving are two-fold as we strengthen our organization through team building and volunteering provides happiness by giving back something much greater than ourselves."

For most of the volunteers, this was their first opportunity to do something of this scale.

"This was the first time I have worked with Habitat for Humanity," said Daniel Keane, individual augmentation administrator with AEF and Personnel Operations. "It is a very worthwhile cause and I'm glad I got a chance to help someone in need.

"It was a lot of work and I was exhausted by the end of the day," Keane said. "It was a great experience and I look forward to doing it again."
