Air Force officials are accepting nominations for the 2014 Government Employees Insurance Company Military Service Awards.

The annual awards recognize enlisted members from all military service branches, including active duty, Guard and Reserve, for their contributions to military and civilian communities.

The three award categories are drug and alcohol abuse prevention, fire safety and fire prevention, and traffic safety and accident prevention. The accident prevention category applies specifically to vehicle or motorcycle related accomplishments.

The award consideration period is Oct. 1, 2013 to Sept. 30, 2014. However, nominees' accomplishments could have been during the award period, be ongoing or span a period of several years. Completed nomination packages are due to the Air Force Personnel Center by Sept. 10, 2014.
