More than 80 officers from five medical career fields have been selected for squadron command, Air Force Personnel Center officials announced.

The 87 selected were among 127 candidates selected by developmental teams that convened in June. Candidates who are not on the selection list will remain eligible for additional vacancies, as they occur, said Master Sgt. Shawna Kibbles, AFPC medical accessions and personnel program manager.

Assignment bids were coordinated among the medical group and wing commanders, senior raters, and command surgeons.

"Selection for squadron command is a significant milestone in an officer's career, and an achievement founded on years of preparation, training, and education," she said. "Squadron command is also an opportunity to directly positively impact others' careers and futures."
