More than 120 lieutenant colonels and lieutenant colonel-selects from five medical career fields were selected as squadron command candidates when the summer developmental team convened here in May and June.

Candidates will be considered for 88 command opportunities projected between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2014, said Master Sgt. Shawna Kibbles, Air Force Personnel Center Medical Accessions and Personnel Program manager.

"The selection process was very competitive," she said. "All aspects of the officers' records and duty history were considered, including his or her demonstrated leadership, leadership potential, professional developments and career development."

Candidates have until Sept. 3 to submit their top five preferences to AFPC, and assignment matches will be announced Oct. 18, she said.
