Air Force releases latest field grade officer promotions

The Air Force selected 562 active-duty officers for promotion to colonel and major during recent CY23B and CY23C central selection boards.

In total, the Air Force selected 534 lieutenant colonels for promotion to colonel (LAF-A/C/F/I/N/X, and Chaplain) and 28 captains for promotion to major (Chaplain). 

Categories considered during the P0623B board included: Line of the Air Force - Air Operations and Special Warfare (LAF-A), Line of the Air Force - Combat Support (LAF-C), Line of the Air Force - Force Modernization (LAF-F), Line of the Air Force - Information Warfare (LAF-I), Line of the Air Force – Nuclear and Missile Operations (LAF-N), Line of the Air Force - Cross-Functional (LAF-X), and Chaplain.

The P0423C board considered officers in the Chaplain category.

Colonel (P0623B) selection statistics:

  • LAF-A 284 selected out of 801 considered.
  • LAF-C 88 selected out of 287 considered.
  • LAF-F 59 selected out of 157 considered.
  • LAF-I 74 selected out of 279 considered.
  • LAF-N 9 selected out of 38 considered.
  • LAF-X 13 selected out of 38 considered.
  • Chaplains 7 out of 33 considered.

Major (P0423C) selection statistics:

  • Chaplains 28 selected out of 35 considered.
