Officials announce Flemming award nominees

Air Force officials announced the nominees of the 62nd Annual Arthur S. Flemming Award.

The Flemming award annually recognizes outstanding federal employees who have made significant and extraordinary contributions to the federal government.

The following are the Air Force nominees for the award:

Basic Science category: Dr. Timothy Bunning of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Managerial or Legal Achievement category: Maj. Michael Morgan of Nellis AFB, Nev., and Maj Jason Whittle of Lajes Field, Azores.

Applied Science, Engineering and Mathematics category: Dr. Thomas Cooley of Kirtland AFB, N.M., and Evan Kuchera of Offutt AFB, Neb.

Military nominees are authorized the Air Force Recognition Ribbon. Each of the civilian nominees is authorized the Air Force Recognition Lapel Pin.

The final winners will be chosen by a panel of nationally prominent judges, and presented the awards during a program in Washington, D.C.
