The 2014 Phoenix Eagle selection board named 178 majors and lieutenant colonels as candidates for command opportunities, Air Mobility Command officials announced Aug. 28.

The board considered more than 250 officers for squadron command and chief of safety leadership opportunities, according to Maj. Aaron Torczynski, AMC Rated Officer and Civilian Development chief.

"The board's goal was to provide senior leadership with the best candidates for squadron command and chief of safety, ensuring the highest quality leadership for the Mobility Air Forces," said Torczynski.

Candidate bidding and selection for specific squadron command and wing chief of safety assignments began immediately following the August announcement, and will conclude in September, the major explained.
