The 2016 Air Force Trials begin today and run through March 5 at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

The Air Force Trials are an adaptive and rehabilitative sports event designed to promote the mental and physical well-being of seriously wounded, ill and injured military members and veterans.

"We will have more than 100 wounded, ill or injured warriors along with their support teams pulling together to compete and possibly earn a spot on the U.S. Air Force Warrior Games Team," said Marsha Gonzales, deputy chief, AFPC Warrior Care Division. "Athletes chosen from these trials will represent the Air Force at the 2016 Warrior Games at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in June."

The sporting events at the trials will include wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, swimming, track and field, air pistol and rifle shooting, archery, and cycling.
