HomeCareer ManagementInterservice Transfer

The Interservice Transfer program, or IST, allows qualified commissioned officers from other Uniformed Services to apply for transfer to active duty in the United States Air Force to fill select critically manned Air Force career fields. DUE TO FORCE MANGEMENT EFFORTS, THE INTERSERVICE TRANSFER PROGRAM IS SUSPENDED.

NOTE:  Warrant officers interested in Air Force accession may contact an Air Force Officer Training School recruiter for OTS information and application procedures.

Although legal provisions exist for other Services to transfer to the Space Force, the current focus is on transferring the over 6,000 Airmen from the Air Force to the Space Force by mid FY21.  The Army and Navy space requirements are scheduled to transfer to Space Force in FY22/23.  We understand there is excitement for Space Force across all Services right now.  Space Force will release further details for a limited inter-service transfer for other Sister Services sometime in FY21.

The 19ZXA Special Tactics Officer (STO), 19ZXC - Combat Rescue Officer (CRO) and 19ZXB - Tactical Air Control Party Officer (TACP-O) selection process is independent from the IST process. Officers interested in submitting an application must contact the respective selection authority. For information on STO selection, contact sto.recruiter@us.af.mil.  For CRO selection contact cro.selection@us.af.mil. For TACP, contact 6ctsdet2.tacp.officer@us.af.mil
