First lieutenants selected for promotion to captain are promoted on the two-year anniversary of their current grade date of rank or upon approval from the Secretary of Defense, whichever is later. Unless notified otherwise, promotions to captain are effective on the date indicated on an individual’s promotion notification Report on Individual Personnel (RIP). JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas -- The Air Force selected 686 first lieutenants for promotion to captain during the Calendar Year 17D Captain Line of the Air Force, Chaplain, Line of the Air Force – Judge Advocate, Nurse Corps, Medical Service Corps and Biomedical Sciences Corps quarterly selection process.

The list is available by clicking the “Captains Quarterly Selection” button on the right side of the Officer Promotions page of the AFPC public website.

Prior to posting the list on myPers, the Air Force’s Personnel Center provided senior raters with advanced knowledge of their officers’ selection to allow notification through the chain of command.
