In an effort to improve readiness and lethality, the Department of the Air Force pioneered an automated Civilian Deployment Module within AFFORGEN Connect available to users June 16, 2025.

AFFORGEN Connect is a hub for managing and tracking various aspects of deployment operations for Airmen and Guardians , including readiness, training, and resource allocation. During the development of AFFORGEN Connect for military members in 2022, officials recognized the need to automate civilian deployment tracking as well.

“Civilians deploy to support the military warfighter downrange,” said Mary Church, Air Force DoD Expeditionary Civilian Program Manager, “and the capabilities of the module ensure civilian members are prepared to the same extent as our military members to meet DoD, Air Force and Space Force mission sets.”

The new module delivers instant, real-time access to civilian deployment status, reducing reliance on printed records and manual data gathering. The expedited processing eliminates outdated six-part mobility folders, ensuring streamlined readiness and force management.

While the integration of civilian medical readiness data is still pending, the Air Force Personnel Center is finalizing agreements with the Aeromedical Services Information Management System Project Management Office to enhance civilian deployment tracking. This module further enables post-deployment processing, allowing returning personnel to update their status, complete medical assessments, and finalize travel vouchers.

With deployment readiness at the forefront, the module solidifies DAF’s commitment to treating civilians and military personnel as an integrated force, improving operational agility and preparedness for future missions.
