Lt. Gen. John C. Koziol, deputy under secretary of defense for Joint and Coalition Warfighter Support and the director of the Department of Defense Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Task Force, received the 2008 Eugene M. Zuckert Management Award during a ceremony recently conducted at the Pentagon.

"It is an honor to receive this Secretary of the Air Force award and I want to specifically recognize the men and women of the Air Force ISR Agency and the Joint Information Operations Warfare Command who perform admirably every day, around the world, executing their warfighter missions," said General Koziol. "These highly talented ISR operators and Information Operations experts conduct extraordinary missions and their success can be clearly attributed to their professionalism and dedication."

The annual award recognizes outstanding achievements by a top-level Air Force manager in the ranks of brigadier through lieutenant general or civilian equivalents. It is named after Mr. Eugene M. Zuckert who served as Secretary of the Air Force from January 1961 to September 1965.

As the commander of Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency and the commander, Joint Information Operations Warfare Command at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, General Koziol was cited for his leadership and management abilities. His efforts resulted in the transformation and restructure of Air Intelligence Agency into the Air Force ISR Agency and the complete restructure of the Joint Information Operations Warfare Command. His transformational initiatives resulted in successes across the entire ISR enterprise to include special operations and ISR distributed warfighting operations and enhanced Information Operations directly supporting combatant commanders around the world.
