Air Force officials to close force shaping programs

  • Published
Since the Air Force is on track to meet end strength goals for fiscal 2008, force shaping programs are being closed for the remainder of the year.

March 31 is the last day Air Force officials will accept fiscal 2008 Voluntary Separation Pay program applications. All eligible officers interested in applying must submit applications for VSP online through Virtual MPF on or before March 31.

All other officer voluntary separation force shaping programs also close March 31, to include Limited Active Duty Service Commitment Waivers and Palace Chase transfers to Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve.

Voluntary retirement programs -- prior-service officers eligible to retire with eight years commissioned service and lieutenant colonels and colonels requesting time-in-grade waivers with their retirement applications -- close April 30.

However, the Blue to Green program for enlisted and officers applying for transfer to the Army will remain open indefinitely.

A decision on what force shaping programs may be utilized in fiscal 2009 is still pending.
