Spirit of service award nominations due April 15

Nominations for the 2016 American Legion Spirit of Service Award are due to the Air Force Personnel Center by April 15.

The award is presented annually to one enlisted member from each of the military and reserve services for outstanding volunteer service performed off duty in the local community. Active duty and Air Reserve Component airmen basic through staff sergeants can be nominated for outstanding volunteer service performed off-duty in the local community Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2015.

Major commands, field operating agencies and direct reporting unit have individual suspense dates and nomination procedures for their nominees. Each MAJCOM, FOA, and DRU may submit one nomination. Winners will be announced during the American Legion National Convention in August.
