The School of Advanced Air and Space Studies at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, selected 38 officers as primaries and 18 as alternates; the School of Advanced Military Studies selected 10 primary and eight alternate participants to attend at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; the Marine Corps’ School of Advanced Warfighting at Quantico, Virginia, selected two officers as primary attendees and one alternate. In addition, the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School selected six officers to attend MAWS at Newport, Rhode Island, and the Naval War College-Advanced Strategist Program selected three primaries. The NWC-ASP is a new program similar to SAASS with its orientation towards strategy. The programs all provide graduate-level professional military education for strategists. “Success in the application of airpower requires a highly specialized and competent workforce developed through deliberate training, education and leadership experiences,” said Master Sgt. Jason Franklin, Air Force’s Personnel Center Workforce Development branch. “Ultimately, this opportunity will produce tomorrow’s senior military leaders who are experts on the role of military force in the art of statecraft, with advanced strategic thinking capabilities.” The board considered eligible officers who had completed, or were completing, their in-residence intermediate developmental education program. Prior to posting the list on myPers, AFPC provided senior raters with advanced knowledge of their officers’ selection to allow notification through the chain of command. To view the list, visit myPers from a CAC-enabled computer, select “Active Duty Officer” from the dropdown menu and search “ASG.” For more information about Air Force personnel programs, go to myPers.
