Four dozen Airmen have been selected for the calendar year 2013 Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program, Air Force Personnel Center officials announced today.

The NECP selection board meets annually in May to review records and identify the top applicants for a commissioning opportunity in this critical career field, said Sandra Bruce, AFPC nurse education program manager.

To see the selectee list, go to http://www.afpc.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-130620-012.pdf.

"Qualified, dedicated nurses are critical to the military and civilian communities, and candidates go through rigorous screening to identify those who are ready for the responsibility and highly likely to succeed in the school and career field," Bruce said.

Airmen selected will complete their bachelor's degrees at a college or university with an Air Force ROTC detachment, or a college or university with a cross-town agreement. As full-time students they will be able to focus entirely on education.

NECP students attend school year-round for up to 24 consecutive months to finish their degree, and while they're in school they receive all pay and allowances. In addition, senior airmen selected are also promoted to staff sergeant prior to starting the program, Bruce said.

After graduating, if they pass the Nursing National Council Licensure Examination, they'll be commissioned as second lieutenants.

The next NECP selection board will convene in May 2014. Airmen interested in the program can find previous years' eligibility information at https://mypers.af.mil (search for NECP) or at https://kx.afms.mil/afnurseeducation.
