More than 30 Airmen have been named to command Air Force intelligence squadrons, Air Force Personnel Center officials announced today.

The intelligence career field squadron commander board met in July to consider eligible officers for command opportunities. Eligible officers identified as candidates on the command list who were not matched for command will remain on the candidate roster, which AFPC uses to fill unanticipated vacancies, said Maj. Abe Salomon, AFPC assignments directorate.

Officers are vectored at certain milestones during their careers, so when they are eligible for command, they will have the training and experience necessary to be successful leaders and commanders, the major said.

"All officers on the squadron command candidates list are considered volunteers for worldwide command opportunities, including indeterminate temporary duty tours," Salomon said. "The intelligence field is critical to national defense, and officers selected for command must be committed, focused and ready for the opportunity and responsibility inherent in the position."

Officers interested in command must ensure their Airman Development Plan clearly indicates that they are interested, he said.
