More than 80 majors and lieutenant colonels were selected as candidates for special operations squadron command and chief of safety positions during the Oct. 3-4 Air Force Special Operations Command "Commando Eagle" selection board held at Hurlburt Field, Fla.

Although more candidates were selected than anticipated vacancies, the high-caliber candidates will also be considered for deployed commander opportunities, said Maj. Evart Outlaw, Air Force Personnel Center assignment officer.

The candidates, as well as those on consolidated command candidate selection boards, may also be eligible to compete for operations support squadron command positions, Outlaw added.

"The list is effective until next year's list is released," he explained, "so interested officers should make sure they keep their Airman Development Plan updated to reflect their interests."

All officers on the squadron command candidates list are considered volunteers for worldwide command opportunities, including indeterminate temporary duty.
