'My Biz' offers training records updating for civilians Published Sept. 22, 2009 Air Force Personnel Center Public Affairs RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- A new tab in "My Biz" allows civilian employees to update their completed training through the self-service module in the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System. Employees and their supervisors can view and print satisfactorily completed training and professional military education from within My Biz and My Workplace, respectively. This eliminates faxing, e-mailing or delivering completed training certificates to the local civilian personnel section or training office. Installation CPS or training offices will automatically update training records for any mandatory training courses. To avoid erroneous or duplicate training entries, employees should wait 30 days after completion of training to allow the system to update. This timely and customer-focused initiative is similar to the self-service education update initiative that launched in August 2008. Following the deployment of the education update initiative, many employees expressed an interest in having the capability to update training. "We anticipated a key customer need within the self-service environment and found ourselves in a favored position. In response, we were excited to share that we were already working the training update initiative. This is a clear and meaningful example of delivering a customer desired capability," said Heidi Gerstner in the Civilian Future Operations Branch at the Air Force Personnel Center here. There are no restrictions on the number of past training events that employees may update. However, employees should carefully consider the relevancy of the training to their current or desired position, keeping the most important training information available to aid in their career progression, suggested Ms. Gerstner. "One of the goals at AFPC is to constantly look for ways to better serve our customers," said Michelle LoweSolis, director of the Directorate of Civilian Force Integration. "By using this technology, we have made the process more time efficient for employees and empowered them to take ownership for their records and their career." While this additional self-service capability allows employees direct access to update training, officials strongly encourage users to review their inputs for accuracy before submitting them. Knowingly entering false or misleading information may be cause for disciplinary action up to and including removal.
