The Air Force has selected eight lieutenant colonels and lieutenant colonel-selects for weather squadron command.

The officers were among 14 candidates named earlier this year. Candidates who are not on the selection list will remain eligible for additional vacancies as they occur throughout the year, said Capt. Chris Miller, Air Force Personnel Center weather officer assignments chief.

"Selection for command is a significant step in an officer's career development," Miller said. "These commanders will be trusted with developing and caring for Airmen and their families. They will have the opportunity to impact the mission in a direct and positive way."
