Nuclear, missile operations squadron command, chief of safety candidates named Published July 16, 2015 Air Force Personnel Center Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas -- Thirty lieutenant colonels and lieutenant colonel-selects have been selected as candidates for nuclear and missile operations squadron commander and chief of safety position opportunities. The officers selected as candidates for command and chief of safety were among 41 eligible officers identified earlier this year. Candidates who are not selected for command and chief of safety positions will remain eligible for additional worldwide vacancies throughout calendar year 2016, as they occur, said Maj. Benjamin Guenther, chief of nuclear and missile operations officer assignments. "Selection for command or chief of safety is a significant milestone in every officer's career," said Guenther. "These officers have a direct daily impact on the Airmen who accomplish the nuclear and missile operations mission and ultimately, a direct impact on national security."
