Nine lieutenant colonels and majors have been selected for weather squadron command, Air Force Personnel Center officials announced today.

The officers selected were among 16 candidates identified earlier this year. Candidates who are not on the selection list will remain eligible for additional vacancies, as they occur, said Maj. Jimmy Odom, AFPC weather officer assignments chief.

"Selection for command is a significant step in an officer's career development, and carries with it a great deal of trust and responsibility.  Squadron command is an opportunity to directly impact the mission, Airmen, and their families in an immediate, direct and positive way," the major said.
