The Air Force recognizes the preparation for promotion testing is an important endeavor for members striving for career advancement. In 1993, senior Air Force leadership made a commitment to provide a personal set of Weighted Airman Promotion System (WAPS) and Career Development Courses (CDCs) to each enlisted member competing for promotion. The Air Forces Education Logistics and Communication (A4/6) Directorates are responsible for procuring, printing, and distributing more than 90,000 individual WAPS study reference material packages annually to every eligible member throughout the world.
What records count toward promotion in WAPS?
In order to compete for promotion, you must to be eligible and your record must be weighable. Your Data Verification Record reflects whether or not your promotion record is weighable or non-weighable.
A weighable record means all the weighted factor data elements (Enlisted Performance Reports, Decorations, Promotion Fitness Examination, Specialty Knowledge Test, Time-in-Grade and Time-in-Service) are present and you will receive promotion consideration during the original select run.
A non-weighable record means one or more weighted factors are missing from your promotion file. You cannot receive promotion consideration until your record becomes weighable.
