Awards and decorations officials at the Air Force Personnel Center here are seeking nominations for the 2010 Outstanding Department of Defense Employee with a Disability Award.

This Secretary of Defense award recognizes the contributions and achievements made by physically or mentally disabled federal employees within DOD.

Nominees will be rated on their job performance, community service, and courage and initiative in overcoming disabilities during Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2009.

Nomination packages are due via e-mail to AFPC by May 14, 2010 and will be submitted by major commands, field operating agencies and direct reporting agencies.

Federal employees who demonstrate job performance clearly exceeding requirements in spite of severely limiting physical and/or mental factors, and who exhibit courage and initiative in overcoming disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Organizations and base-level personnel must contact their MAJCOM, FOA, or DRU for additional nomination deadlines and procedures.
